MusicXML editor

What: Edit MusicXML scores — notes, measures, parts, and layout — without leaving SyncSheets. When: After OMR conversion, importing MusicXML, or creating a new score. How:

1. Use the app bar for zoom, parts, save, and measure menu.
2. Tap a note to edit pitch and articulation; tap a measure number for measure tools.
3. Tap the ♩ Add button to insert notes by tapping the staff. Tip: Each save can create a revision you can restore from the history icon.

Tap a note → selection toolbar (pitch, duration, articulation). Tap a measure number or empty staff lane → measure toolbar (copy, time sig, repeats). Tap ♩ Add, then tap the staff → insert a new note at that position.

Decreases magnification to fit more measures on screen. Useful for navigating long pieces.

Shows the current zoom level. Tap to reset to default zoom. Drag left/right to adjust.

Increases magnification for detailed editing. Better for note placement and articulation.

Reverts your most recent edit action. Multiple undo levels available.

What: Inserts a quarter note (or your piano-panel duration) at the tapped staff position. How:

1. Tap the ♩ Add button at the bottom-right.
2. Tap the staff line or space where the note belongs.
3. Tap ✕ on the banner or Add again to exit. Tip: Select an existing note first if you prefer editing over inserting.

Opens the piano panel at the bottom of the screen for note input. How: Tap the piano icon, pick a duration, then tap keys to hear and insert notes. Tip: Use sustain for held notes; the panel shows which measure receives new notes.

Duration chips: W, H, Q, E, S set whole through sixteenth notes. Dotted: Adds a dot to the next inserted note. Sustain: Holds notes while keys stay down (like a pedal). Octave arrows: Shift the visible keyboard range up or down.

Transpose the entire piece or selection by semitones or intervals. Useful for transposing instruments.

Add new instruments, rename parts, or remove staves. Changes apply to the entire score.

What: Add, duplicate, or delete measures; set time/key signatures and repeats. How:

1. App bar grid icon — add at end, time/key sig, text, rehearsal marks (works without selecting a measure).
2. Tap a measure — opens the bottom toolbar for copy/paste, add before/after, transpose, and more. Tip: Select a measure first to add after that bar or duplicate it.

Set the title, composer, arranger, and other metadata. This info appears on the first page.

Distribute individual parts to band members. Each musician receives their own part as a separate score.

Each save can create a revision. Restore an older version if an edit didn't work out.

Tap Save to open the menu. Save writes changes to this piece. Save and exit saves then returns to the viewer. See the following steps for Save as and Export to PDF.

When: You want a variant without overwriting the original piece. How: Tap Save (disk icon) → Save as... → enter a new title. Tip: The original piece in your library stays unchanged.

When: Sharing a read-only copy or printing from the edited layout. How: Tap Save → Export to PDF. Share or save the generated file. Tip: Export after zoom and layout look correct — PDF reflects current engraving.
